Phase 3-test developed with University Medical Center Hamburg UKE
Dr. Brill + Partner developed in a research project financed by the Hamburg health authorities and in cooperation with the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf a phase 3 test model for surface disinfection procedures. The model includes clinical isolated organisms as well as practice-like surfaces from the hospital in the phase 3 step 1-test as well as the opportunity to perform field studies in the UKE. In addition, the application of the product was developed further meeting practical conditions. The data will be presented on the DGKH-event on May 12 and 13 in Essen. The paper is in preparation but tests can be order with us as of now. In case you are interested please feel free to contact us. 10 % discount for validation of reprocessing of medical devices under GLP-conditions
The validation of reprocessing procedures for reusable medical devices according to ISO 17664-1 and -2 under GLP for the US-market is an important hot topic and key for registration of medical devices with FDA. Of course we can use the recently published frame standard ANSI/AAMI ST98:2022 as a basis but also the German guidelines, such as ISO 15883-series. We are ready to market in our bactericidal laboratory as of July 1st 2023 to offer these services under GLP and subsequently FDA compliant. Dr. Brill at 33rd ECCMID
Dr. Brill + Partner GmbH Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology. will be present at the 33rd ECCMID from the 15th-18th April 2023 in Copenhagen. Our team will have a poster about the project: "BioRes Test: A standardized test to determine the development of resistance in microorganisms against biocides". Here is a short summary: Surface disinfectants and antimicrobial surfaces are important for hygiene and the protection of materials. However, bacteria can develop resistance to disinfectants and material-protection agents, increasing the risk of cross-resistance to antibiotics. Disinfectants and antimicrobial material coatings are approved within the framework of the EU biocide regulation but there is currently a lack of standardized test methods that would provide industrial applicants and the assessing authorities with a framework for assessment. The aim of this project is to develop a standardized test method to determine the potential for the development of resistance and cross-resistance when using surface disinfectants and antimicrobial surfaces. The focus is on the development of resistance through de novo mutations and the test procedures are developed on the basis of procedures previously published in scientific journals. We are looking forward to exciting conversations!

Are you interested in wound healing? We are as well!
And in order to be a good partner to you in the usual competent manner with regard to this issue, we develop tests for you and with you on the subject of antimicrobial wound treatment products. Since this sector still has some catching up to do in terms of international standards, but we already see a need for action today, we are active on various issues. In particular, the establishment of the concept of biofilms in the context of wound treatment is of great interest, because its special properties must first be understood and taken into account in the treatment. Therefore, we conduct research with our collaboration partners (e.g.: Prof. Dr. med. Ewa Stürmer, UKE; PD Dr. Cornelia Wiegand, Jena University Hospital; Dr. med. Thomas Eberlein, Woundconsulting) on various topics and share our findings on an expert stage: Influence on decolonization and biofilm reduction of urinary tract catheters by rinsing with polyhexanide (DOI: 10.1186/s12894-018-0362-3 and 10.1186/s12894-021-00826-3) Antimicrobial wound dressings in their effectiveness against Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms (DOI: 10.3389/fmicb.2021.664030) Alternative treatment of biofilms by stimulating wound healing using “Pulsed low-intensity laser treatment” (DOI: 10.1016/j.jphotobiol.2022.112504) Development of a new 3D skin infection model as an alternative to animal models as part of the "InVitroWund" cooperation project (DGKH Congress 2022, CAHMV Congress 2021) What we can do for you: Do you have an interesting project on the subject and do you need advisory support? Due to our strong commitment at standardization level and our broad network, we can offer you our help even before the experimental work. Do you already have a question that you would like to support experimentally? Then please contact us. This can be in the context of biofilms but also generally on the subject of wound dressings. We not only offer you the standard tests that you need for your approval (e.g.: suspension tests according to EN 13727 and EN 13624). We also plan and carry out projects based on our established in-house methods in order to achieve standardization today, even without an internationally valid standard. Is your project planning possibly still in the future? Then we are pleased to inform you that prEN17854:2022-07 has currently reached draft status, so that we may soon be able to offer you an internationally valid test standard. Do you have a request that is not listed here? No problem, please contact our team at Scientificservice@brillhygiene.com. Current: Since the topic always provides an opportunity for exchange, we cordially invite you to the event "Online Update Hygiene and Infection Prevention" of the Life Science Nord network on December 8th, 2022 (https://lifesciencenord.de/de/events/detail/online-update-hygiene-und-fection-prevention-10.html), which among other things focuses on wound treatment and which you can also view after uploading on-demand in the media center (https://academy.brillinstitutes.com/de/Mediathek/webinare). We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!
